Build the city of the future at California City:

California’s Biggest, emptiest Town in California, a wonderful city with great potential!

California City was built 75 miles outside of Los Angeles in 1958 by property developer and professor of sociology Nat Mendelsohn, who master-planned a sprawling metropolis with the highest hopes, and it was originally intended to rival the City of Angels in size and population.  Today, California City is the state’s third largest city. But it’s home to only 14,000 people, lagging development and an unfavorable environment disappointed its developers.

California City was incorporated in 1965 in the northern Antelope Valley in Kern County, California.  The city is the third largest city in the state by area. California City is located in a portion of the Mojave Desert that was nomatically occupied by Paiute Indians.

California City had its origins in 1958 when a group of real estate developers purchased vast amounts of land with the aim of master-planning California’s next great city. They designed a thoughtful model city, which he hoped would one day rival Los Angeles in size, around a Central Park with a 26-acre artificial lake.

Completely empty and unmarked streets lie unvisited in the desert. All of California City’s empty roads have names, map designations, and other markers of a city – just without the people or the buildings.

French architect Jean Maxime Rivière, first prize for architecture and town planning from the Eiffel Foundation in Paris, has fallen in love with Californie City. He went there he recognized all the potential offered by this wonderful city with all these advantages including its ideal location, and its railway infrastructure as well as a space as far as the eye can see to accommodate companies in the energies renewable sources such as wind turbines and solar panels.

The architect Rivière dreams of give and build the splendor to this city which has amazing potential. His first idea was to organize an international architectural competition with the aim of creating a second city close to Los Angeles which would be an example from an ecological point of view, innovative and revolutionary economic architectural urbanism. The Creation of the City of the Future 1h30 from Los Angeles…
This architectural competition will allow California City to grow faster and be an example to cities around the world.
